Second-Class Officer Jasper Brown was not entirely certain how he had wound up alone and surrounded by enemies.  The last thing he’d really been aware of was his captain shouting about an ambush, and then everything had gotten very noisy and confusing, and when he’d come back to himself he was busy maintaining a shield and trying to hold off any and all comers with a sword he barely knew how to use.

Okay, so he was admittedly out in Kansas to learn how to use the sword.  However, he’d rather thought there might be some basic training involved, not just his superiors finding him a weapon, pointing him at the rebels and saying, “Kill!”

Donald Morgan Character Bio
by ‫‬‭‮‪‫‬‭Dark Puck (dark_puck)
at June 28th, 2007 (10:48 am)

As a Warden, Donald Morgan had been feeling uncomfortable with his job for a long time. He has always been a protector, dedicated to defending those who need it. Where once it had been the wizards, he couldn’t help but feel in recent years that it was the mortals who now needed protecting. The problem was that nobody quit the Wardens and survived. However, ten years prior to game-start, Morgan was reassigned to guard a testing facility, where he discovered a horrendous misuse of magic intended to win the war at last.

Unable to take any more, Morgan rescued the child they intended to test the machine upon, destroying the machine and all the plans for it as he did. What he couldn’t destroy, he hid, hoping to set the research back by years, even decades. Long considered one of the best, his turning was sudden and unexpected – perhaps the only reason he managed to survive. Eschewing both his title and his cloak, Morgan found a new purpose for his life: to defend the very people he had once attacked.

In the ten years since his turning, Morgan has become a protector to wizard and mortal children alike.  Currently he has ten children between the ages of five and eighteen under his care, four of whom are wizards.

Karrin Murphy Bio
by ‫‬‭‮‪‫‬‭Dark Puck (dark_puck)
at June 28th, 2007 (10:46 am)

Karrin Murphy was born to Collin Murphy and his wife Marion, the oldest child of four, all humans, all born free. Her father was a freedom fighter associated with the ongoing rebellion against the White Council, and soon had to leave home for his family’s safety. Karrin lived with her mother and her brothers until she turned five. Her father had returned home the year before, and this time when he left, he took her with him, for reasons that I have yet to come up with.

She lived a fairly gypsyish life for the next six years, and became a sort of mascot for her father’s immediate circle of co-conspirators. She was never allowed to help with their sabotage or assassination missions, but she always knew what was going on, and it was rare that she did not help in the setup or fallout of a mission. As a result, Karrin learned very quickly who was and was not the enemy, who she could and could not trust, and of the desperate measures that desperate people sometimes resorted to. She also learned how to defend herself against anyone living, and all the tricks her father’s co-consipirators could come up with for killing wizards.

When she was eleven, her father was caught in the act by Wardens, and only narrowly escaped. He returned home with just enough of a lead to hide his daughter, and to warn his fellows, before the Wardens caught up to him and executed him. Karrin was later picked up by the other members of the revolution, who took her home; but her mother and siblings were gone, taken by the White Council, or more likely simply moved on when the Council’s forces got too close for comfort. She had nowhere to go, and thus remained with the rebellion.

As she got older, she became a fairly invaluable member of the revolution, due to her father’s passed-on expertise and her own gift for strategy and investigation. This talent and noteriety inevitably brought her into contact with one Harry Dresden, when she was about twenty-two. Said contact was...explosive, in all senses of the word. Despite the bickering, the general opinion held them to be a well-matched team, particularly when every enemy they went after caught a terminal case of deaditis. Karrin and Harry worked so well together that shortly they rose to take charge of the revolution, and incidentally, several bets were placed as to how soon they’d be sleeping together. Karrin sort of tilted the odds when she placed her own bets.

Currently, she is a leader of the revolution against the White Council. She is a capable, confident woman who knows more ways of killing wizards than is strictly possible. Karrin is difficult to get to know, does not trust easily, and has a very black-and-white vision of the world that strongly affects her ability to trust or like turncoats such as Morgan or Jennifer. She trusts no one in the world more than Harry Dresden, loves him very much, and usually is mildly to seriously exasperated with life. There’s a reason she’s known as Karrin Oh-Christ-It’s-Her-Run Murphy.

Added Notes: Karrin is a zealot, and probably the most dangerous person in the rebellion insofar as anyone on the Alliance's side would say. She does not, unlike her Dresden Files counterpart, believe in the essential fairness or justice of the world, and she would do anything to protect her people or save even one innocent life. Anything at all.

Harry Dresden Bio
by ‫‬‭‮‪‫‬‭Dark Puck (dark_puck)
at June 28th, 2007 (10:42 am)

Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden was born in the middle of a war.

His father, Malcolm Dresden, was an ordinary mortal, and a freedom fighter, who died while his mother, Margaret LeFay, a wizard, was pregnant. His mother always raised him to do the right thing, and to be willing to fight for it. His mother was one of the few wizards alligned with the rebels, and she taught him that no man was intrinsicaly better than any other, magic or not.

When Harry was ten, the fortress he and his mother called home was attacked by the Wardens. The fortress was utterly destroyed, and Harry's mother was murdered before his eyes by Justin DuMorne, then a Warden himself.

From that day forth, Harry redoubled his efforts in the war, fighting not only for the freedom of all but for his own vengence. He was raised to adulthood by Ebenezar McCoy, an old friend of his mother's.

As he grew up, his own magic became exeptionally powerful, and his reputation grew among friend and foe alike.

He rose to became a prominant figure in the war, rising high within the freedom fighters' ranks but always declining positions of real leadership. He also played a key role in the construction of the great stronghold, Arx Extremus.

Today, he fights on, and many consider him to be the rebellion's last hope...
